General Clinic/Service

General Clinic/Service Questions

Do I need to schedule an appointment for my first visit?

Yes! As of Fall 2023, an appointment is required for both weight loss and aesthetic services. Due to high demand, we unfortunately are no longer able to service walk-ins. If you are a weight loss patient, this ensures that the Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners have adequate time to spend with you reviewing your health history, providing dietary and exercise counseling, creating a shared treatment goal with plan, and doing a brief physical exam with baseline measurements.  During this initial visit, you will have the opportunity to use our state-of-the-art full body composition scale, if desired. Depending on the service desired, appointment lengths vary. If you are an aesthetics patient, scheduling an appointment allows adequate time for consultation, paperwork, pre-treatment medication/interventions (if needed), procedure, and post-treatment/follow-up instructions.

You can schedule an appointment HERE on our website or by calling 1-865-288-7100.

Do I need to schedule an appointment for follow-up visits?

It is to our patients’ advantage to schedule follow-up appointments because we offer a patient loyalty program that rewards you for pre-booking and coming to your next appointment when you check-out or prior to your next appointment. All appointments require an appointment, unless otherwise discussed.

How often are follow-up visits?

Follow-up visits depend on the service provided. Aesthetics follow-up appointments will be discussed with your Nurse Practitioner after your procedure. Lipotropic/Wellness injection follow-ups may be as often as once per week. Your healthcare provider will discuss a treatment plan with follow-ups that meet your health and wellness goals. Weight loss follow-ups can be for weekly or monthly weigh-ins. However, if you are receiving a prescription medication, at least 28 days must lapse between refills. Prescription-grade supplements can be purchased any time during normal business hours.

Will I have to sign a contract?

No. We are a medical clinic, and we do not require contracts for our services.

What is your appointment cancellation policy?

For respect of our healthcare providers and other patients, we ask that you please give us a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. We understand that things happen and would appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible (even if 24 hours is not an option), so we can adjust our schedule. No Calls or No Shows within 24 hours of appointment will result in a $50 fee to your card on file.

What if I am unable to come during your normal business hours?

We will do our best to accommodate appointments outside of these hours. We try to be flexible, because we want to help you get started and stay on the path to health and wellness. Please call our office to inquire about after hour appointments. These requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If it is an aesthetic treatment appointment you need, our Nurse Practitioners also provide concierge (off-site) services for established patients for certain procedures. This is also considered on a case-by-case basis.

Medication & Product Questions

Medication

What medication do you prescribe?

We prescribe the appetite suppressant phentermine hydrochloride (tablet and capsule). Brand names for phentermine are Adipex-P, Fastin, and Ionamin. This medication was approved by the FDA in 1959 and has been vastly studied and used safely and successfully by many patients since that time.

Can I take
phentermine?

If you have closed-angle glaucoma, active hyperthyroidism, uncontrolled hypertension (if you take medication and your blood pressure is under control, you are a candidate), a history of heart attack and/or stroke, certain irregular heartbeats, currently take a MAO Inhibitor (such as Emsam, Marplan, Nardil, or Parnate), certain seizures, currently take other contraindicated medications, are pregnant or breastfeeding you are not a good candidate for phentermine. However, if you have diabetes, controlled blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, sleep apnea and other diagnoses/diseases, you may be a candidate for phentermine. Weight loss has been shown to improve most all of these diseases, symptoms, and outcomes.

If I am not a candidate for phentermine or prefer not to take it, do you offer alternatives?

We offer prescription grade supplements as an alternative to phentermine if you cannot or choose not to take phentermine. These supplements are effective and safe for you to take. We also offer prescription lipotropic and wellness injections. These injections may assist with increasing metabolism, help you lose body fat and inches, suppress your appetite, improve insulin resistance, increase energy, and/or provide overall wellness so that you may reach and maintain your goals successfully.

Yes. Our medication, injections, and supplements can be taken together safely. Most patients choose to do this, as the combination causes a synergistic or more rapid effect, helping you reach your goals faster.

Do you dispense the medication/supplements and/or administer the injections in office?

Yes. We prescribe and dispense medication on-site (no pharmacy visit necessary).  Supplements can be purchased in the office or we can take an order and ship those to you. All injections are administered in office by either a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.

Nutritional Program Questions

Nutrional Program

Do I have to purchase any food products from your office?

No. Our program is based on regular food that can be purchased at the grocery store. We will offer meal plans and guidance that will help you with shopping choices.

Will you help me with meal planning and/or provide dietary education?

Yes. During your first visit we will provide a customized meal plan (including a snack guide) that is specific to your needs. You will also receive a complete package with nutritional journal, further nutritional education, exercise recommendations (with and without the gym),  and counseling on appropriate fluid intake. This is, by far, the most essential part of what we do that can help you achieve and maintain your health and wellness goals. We also offer cooking classes and small group events.

Do you offer customized meal plans after the first visit?

Yes. We do offer more meal plans, if desired. These meal plans can be created weekly or monthly in collaboration with you and the Nurse Practitioner. Our Nurse Practitioner has over fourteen years of experience in creating and implementing dietary recommendations and has further education in nutrition. We also collaborate with dieticians and dietary professionals. These plans are based on the food preferences and specific dietary needs of each patient. Shopping lists are generated so you can be prepared to either visit or order online from the grocery store. There is a nominal fee for this service.

Payment & Discount Questions

Payment/Discount

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash and Flex Spending/Health Savings Account cards. We do not accept checks.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill/file insurance at our office. This is because not all insurance companies cover bariatric (weight loss) programs, nor aesthetic procedures. However, if your insurance does cover our services, we are happy to offer a receipt of service for reimbursement that you can file.  We do accept Flex Spending/Health Savings Account cards if your insurance allows.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. You can find monthly specials on this website HERE. You can sign up for our email newsletter and have them delivered straight to your inbox (monthly, unless we have a flash sale or something special to announce). Also like and follow us on Facebook or Instagram (Be Well Knoxville) for pop-up/flash specials. Take advantage of our patient loyalty program that rewards you for appointments made and kept. We also have contests and giveaways throughout the year. Make sure to show us the special/discount when you come in.

Do you offer a discount if I refer someone?

Yes. If you refer someone and they include you as a referral source on their intake paperwork, you will receive 10% off your next visit with us. Due to HIPAA, we are unable to provide you with any information regarding another patient, even if it is your friend or family. We will keep track of any discounts owed to you by referral and simply discount your next visit without discussing any private patient information.
